One report emerged on Sunday that suggested former Vols running back Jalen Hurd will enter the NFL Draft, but that might not be the case.

Nashville radio show host Brent Dougherty reported on Sunday that he was hearing former Tennessee Vols running back Jalen Hurd will enter the NFL Draft.

Hurd, however, seemed to kill those reports with a simple tweet late on Sunday night.

If Hurd decided to enter the NFL Draft, it definitely wouldn’t be a surprise. But it wouldn’t really make make a lot of sense, in regards to this decision to leave Tennessee after the South Carolina loss.

No matter how unhappy Hurd was at Tennessee, if his plans included even the thought of entering the NFL Draft, then he absolutely should’ve stayed at UT.

Simply because departing from Tennessee and then entering the NFL Draft would’ve made his draft stock plummet.

I still think Hurd is playing the long game here. He’ll likely transfer for a new school, play a new position and hope to make enough of an impact to be a sought after draft prospect.

There’s obviously still plenty of time for Hurd to change his mind. But I think he’ll stay true to his tweet and end up transferring and playing elsewhere.

It’s an uphill battle for Hurd to climb, but he definitely has the talent to make an impact at a new school, playing a new position.
