The Tennessee Vols have a top 15 recruiting class in 2017, but it’s the guys that don’t garner the headlines that could be the key to the team’s future success.

When the usual talking heads are discussing the Vols’ 2017 recruiting class in the coming days, they’ll probably mention names like Trey Smith, Eric Crosby, and Will Ignont.

And for good reason — those guys are tremendous talents that should have great success at Tennessee.

But it’s not just those guys that will make the difference for the Volunteers in the coming years.

What really helps a team win is the hidden gems in a class. Guys that step up in late November when a starting cornerback is injured.

Or maybe it’s a guy that’s a key special teams contributor that makes a big play to help secure a win.

I’m talking about the guys that rarely receive headlines, but end up making a big impact at some point during their careers.

There are several of those players in the Vols’ 2017 class.

Here are five that we think need a little more attention on the national scene.
