National Signing Day was a mostly positive affair for the Tennessee Vols, but there was some bad news near the end of the day.

By now you’re probably aware that news of Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jenning’s arrest cast a shadow on the Vols’ signing day celebration.

According to multiple reports, Jennings was arrested on January 15 for simple possession/casual exchange.

Honestly, this shouldn’t be a big deal.

Sure, Jennings did indeed break the law. So there definitely has to be some sort of punishment for the talented wide receiver.

But we’re talking about a victimless “crime”.

Jennings didn’t hurt anyone else. It’s not like he’s Duke’s Grayson Allen and he’s out there tripping guys for the hell of it.

Butch Jones should definitely discipline Jennings. He can’t just let it go. But there are plenty of ways to handle things internally. And I’m sure it happens way more than we realize.

But I definitely don’t think Jennings needs to miss a game — especially considering this happened in January.

Will anyone even remember this come September?

It’s also important to remember that Jauan Jennings is 20 years old. Kids are going to make mistakes. We all do.

Again, some folks are making a big deal about Jennings’ arrest, but it’s definitely not something that fans should worry about.
