There are a lot of fair weather fans in the world of sports. Reptiles, apparently, are no exception.

It’s amazing what breaking an 11 game winning streak to one of your biggest rivals can do for your fandom.

As I’m sure you recall, the Tennessee Vols erased a 21-3 deficit this past year en route to a 38-28 win against the Florida Gators. It was their first win against their rival from the south since James Wilhoit kicked the Vols to victory in 2004.

Because of that win, Florida’s mascot, the Alligator, has apparently rebuked their Gator fandom.

The Gator was spotted in South Carolina, so it’s obviously escaping the suffocating humidity of the Sunshine state, as it makes its way to its new home — Knoxville, TN.

There’s no word on how Smokey, Tennessee’s Blue Tick Hound mascot, will take the news.

But then again, East Tennesseans are as welcoming as anyone in the country.

I’m sure the newly tinted orange gator will feel right at home along Cumberland Avenue.

Looks like all the Vols do is win against Florida these days.
