Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Justin Hunter signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March.

Justin Hunter didn’t have the start to his professional career that many expected, but the former Vols wide receiver is still young enough (he just turned 26) to make an impact in the NFL.

Hunter, who has spent time with the Titans, Dolphins and Bills, is currently doing all he can to make the Steelers’ 53-man roster.

The former Vol has a long way to go to convince Pittsburgh to keep him on the roster, but judging by this recent catch Hunter made in practice, he’s going to make it a tough decision.

That’s the kind of athleticism that made Hunter a second round pick in 2013.

I have no doubt that Hunter is still capable of being a contributor in the NFL. He’s showed flashes of what he’s capable of doing. But unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to display any type of consistency in the NFL.

Then again, Hunter also hasn’t had the benefit of playing with a future hall of fame quarterback. Perhaps playing with Ben Roethlisberger will be the catalyst Hunter needs to break out.

There’s still a long time until the Steelers have to cut their roster down to 53 players. As of right now, Hunter probably isn’t among those 53 players.

But he will have every opportunity this summer to make an impression and force the Steelers to keep him around.
