With Tyson Helton possibly headed to WKU to be their next head coach, the Tennessee Volunteers will need to find a new OC. Here are some possible candidates.

Reports have swirled across social media that Tyson Helton, the Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator, will likely accept the head coaching position at Western Kentucky University. If the rumors are true, the Volunteers will have to look for their third offensive coordinator in three years.

Helton was hired to be the Volunteers offensive coordinator this past offseason after being the passing game coordinator at USC for a year, as well as the offensive coordinator for WKU for the 2014-2015 season.

Throughout this season, Helton had a good number ups and a lot of downs. At times, the Tennessee offense looked great, moving the ball down the field and putting points on the board. He was able to call great games during the Kentucky and Auburn matchups but struggled in many other games.

During his down games, the Volunteers looked like they had one of the worst offenses in the SEC. While Helton had to deal with injuries all season long to the offensive line, the offense still looked stale throughout the season, and could never put back to back good performances together. Helton’s offense looked very disappointing during the Missouri and Vanderbilt games when the Volunteers needed a win, which was a momentum killer after the big win against a ranked Kentucky squad.

Tennessee will now likely have to replace Helton and look for a new offensive coordinator. It will be key for the Volunteers to quickly find another candidate to replace Helton, as the early signing period is just next month. There are a few candidates that the Volunteers might have a chance to land. Here are some of those names being thrown around as the next potential offensive coordinator for the Volunteers.
