Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield made their NBA Summer League debuts Saturday night, and they both had impressive performances.

Grant Williams showed doubting Celtics fans why he was a late first-round pick Saturday night with the second most points on the Celtics roster. The two time SEC Player of the Year led the C’s to a 96-82 victory over the 76ers.

Grantwilliam” as some call him went 4-for-8 in his debut with two three’s. Twelve points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals were Williams final stat line in his debut.

This is no surprise to Tennessee fans keeping up with Williams, but it reassured Celtics fans that Danny Ainge made the right decision in drafting Grant.

Williams came off the bench but played 19 minutes in his debut. This could be his “interview” of sorts to be the Celtics’ sixth man this year or maybe a rotation player this year.

Admiral Schofield also impressed many in his Summer League debut. In 23 minutes, Schofield totaled nine points, five rebounds, and one assist.

The Wizards think highly of Schofield throwing up videos left and right of Admiral making big plays and big shots. It’s impressive what he and Grant have done on their first night on an NBA court, but we shouldn’t expect anything less.

Grant and Admiral weren’t known for filling up the stat line at Tennessee but more for their aggressive, tough play on the court that led to opportunities for them and their teammates.

Grant showed a lot of that off Saturday with his play on both ends of the court. He’s not afraid to put his hands in your face on the court, and he is willing to play tough, physical defense.

He also almost murdered a guy. That’s stuff we don’t see in the NBA much anymore, but players like Draymond Green have brought the physicality back into the game and Williams, and Schofield could be two guys who could bring that physicality to their teams.

He also showed his range from three, which was something he struggled with at Tennessee. His all-around game is coming together, and with more time with Celtics coach Brad Stevens he’s only going to get better.

It didn’t take long for Admiral to show what he brings to the table. His first pro bucket was a dunk, and as the Wizards Twitter put it, he threw it down “with AUTHORITY.”

Rookie Vols have yet to lose a game in this year’s Summer League. They improve to a combined 6-0, which makes them the ultimate team players doing whatever needs to be done to win the game. Not because of any of the other players because we are the best.
