The Tennessee Volunteers “BaseVols” kicked off the Round Rock Classic by upsetting #6 Texas Tech 6-2 to remain undefeated.

The Tennessee Volunteers went into the Round Rock Classic tournament, probably ranked as the worst team out of the four teams in the tournament.

Out of the three other teams, Houston, Stanford, and Texas Tech, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are the best team in the tournament.

The BaseVols entered Friday with a perfect 5-0 record. If you have been keeping up with the baseball team, you know that the Round Rock Classic is going to be a good test to see where the Vols are at early in this baseball season.

In Tennessee’s first game of the weekend, the Vols faced off against the best team in the tournament, Texas Tech. The Red Raiders, although they’re ranked #6 nationally, came into the weekend with a 4-1 record.

Tennessee hit three home runs on Friday night as a bulk of its offense came from the long ball. The Vols lead the SEC in home runs with 11 home runs in its first five games.

One of those home runs wasn’t the normal home run. Zach Daniels legged out an inside-the-park home run to get the Vols on the board. The Vols proceeded to score two more runs to quickly jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Chad Dallas had a great night on the mound for the Vols. He allowed two runs on five hits through five innings, but the four-inning save from Sean Hundley might be even more impressive as he only allowed one hit in the final four innings of the game.

Next. The new CBA could hurt the Tennessee Titans. dark

Tennessee’s next game in the Round Rock Classic will be against Houston at 2 pm CT on Saturday. The Vols will finish out the weekend with an 11 am CT game against Stanford.
