Nashville Predators News: The Sunday Truth
Tenn Truth Editorial Note: The Nashville Predators are winning, but winning too close. Their power play has been an issues all year, and could come back to haunt them when it counts if they don’t improve. Paul McCann of Hockey Buzz takes a closer look.
Sunday Shots – Winning Close
"No doubt about it, the Nashville Predators are on a roll. After four straight wins, the Predators begin the month of December at the top of the Western Conference standings and tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the top spot in the NHL. The latest win, a 2-1 victory over Columbus last night to close out the homestand, has been fairly typical for the Predators. Excellent 5-on-5 play, timely scoring, excellent defense and of course… the Eraser make sure that a tight game stays that way."
Tenn Truth Editorial Note: The Nashville Predators took another close win last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Kristopher Martel of The Predatorial shares thoughts and recap.
Short Shifts: Late goal by Wilson gives Nashville fourth straight win
"Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators (16-5-2) grabbed their fourth straight win, this time finding a goal by Predators forward Colin Wilson with 2:12 remaining in regulation to hand the Columbus Blue Jackets (6-15-2) their sixth straight loss and 15th in their previous 17 games.Never Count Out Your OpponentYou never know what you’re going to expect from a team on the tail end of a back to back, especially one who lost five to nothing the night before. With nine of the first 15 shot attempts by either team on the night, Columbus came out roaring against the Predators."
Tenn Truth Editorial Note: I’ve been making the case for awhile now for Filip Forsberg as the NHL’s best rookie, and many writers are doing the same, including Alex Hubbard of the Hockey Writers. Check out Hubbard’s article.
Forsberg Strengthens Case for NHL’s Best Rookie
"With every goal he scores, Filip Forsberg grows his profile in the public consciousness of the hockey world. On nine previous occasions this season, the 20-year-old rookie winger has displayed his dangerous wrist shot, though the flipping, almost scattered nature of his move defies the very description of wrist shot at times. But his 10th goal of the season, against Edmonton, may be his most memorable."
Tenn Truth Editorial Note: The Nashville Predators are strong, but it’s known by everyone they have issues with the power play. James O’Brien asks how strong the Predators really are, and tries to answer the question. See if you agree.
How strong are the Predators, really?
"After eking out a 1-0 overtime win against the ailing Edmonton Oilers, the Nashville Predators wake up on Black Friday atop the Central Division and among the NHL’s top teams. That’s quite the feat considering the mixed predictions this team brought into 2014-15, not to mention two straight seasons outside of the playoffs. So how seriously should this team be taken?Let’s look at some key numbers to ponder that question."
