Dominic Woodson has informed Tennessee Vols Head Coach Donnie Tyndall that he will transfer from Tennessee immediately. This is a blow to a front court that is already weak and has depth issues.

Woodson transferred to Tennessee from Memphis much to Vols fans delight back in the Summer. Woodson is a 6’10” Sophomore. He has played in only four of the Vols six games so far this season. Woodson is only averaging 12 minutes per game with a 3.5 point per game average and 2 rebounds per game.

  • Tennessee has found a pleasant surprise in Freshmen Willie Carmichael III and Jabari McGhee who will take over inside. Carmichael and McGhee are only 6’8″, but both have outplayed Woodson so far. Carmichael is averaging 4.2 pts per game and 3.3 rebounds. McGhee is averaging 5.2 points per game and 4.3 rebounds.

Woodson was simply unhappy with his time on the court and with his role on the court at Tennessee. He will look for somewhere that can showcase his talents.

The Vols only have one other legitimate inside presence in 6’10” freshman Tariq Owens. Owens has only played in 4 of Tennessee’s 6 games and has only played a total of 27 minutes and is averaging .03 pts per game.

The Vols host a very talented 15th ranked Butler team that comes into Thompson-Boling Arena Sunday. Tip off is set for 2:00 P.M. Eastern.
