Vols Head Coach Butch Jones Gets Trolled With Wikipedia Page
By Zach Ragan
Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones caught some grief for some of his sayings during Monday’s press conference.
The Vols won big on Saturday, but a Florida Gators win against LSU put a damper on the day.
Florida, with the win, clinched the SEC East title. That obviously displeased Volunteer fans, given the assumption that the SEC East was basically put on a platter for UT this season.
(Though I still don’t think Tennessee losing out on the SEC East is necessarily a bad thing.)
So even though the Vols are on a three game winning streak, there’s still some tension between the fans and Butch Jones.
While you might think that tension might be easing due to a possible Sugar Bowl bid, you’d actualy be wrong.
At least after Monday’s press conference.
Jones has been critiqued by many fans, and analysts, for his silly cliches and sayings. Especially his constant use of the word “championship” in odd contexts.
Monday’s usage of the word “championship” was perhaps the weirdest.
Jones said the phrase “the championship of life”. Out of context it sounds pretty unusual.
With context, it still doesn’t sound all that great, but at least it makes a little more sense.
Vol fans, who are understandably upset about Jones turning anything negative into a positive (at least from his viewpoint), had a field day with the comment.
Twitter was ablaze with folks making fun of Jones. But perhaps the best thing to come out of this was the edit that someone made to Butch’s Wikipedia page.
That is pure gold.
We all need a laugh. I don’t care if you’re 100% behind Jones or if you think, for whatever reason, he should be replaced immediately.
I’m not sure how self-aware Jones is (he doesn’t seem to like to laugh at himself), but even he had to find some humor in this.

Maybe one day the Vols will actually win a real championship that Jones can boast about.
