Tennessee Titans: Peyton Manning Says He’s A Big Fan Of Marcus Mariota
By Zach Ragan
Peyton Manning recently had some great things to say about Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has been receiving a lot of praise lately for his performance.
But I have a feeling that being named the AFC offensive player of the week pales in comparison to receiving compliments from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Peyton Manning joined the CBS broadcast of the Titans/Colts matchup this past Sunday.
Manning, who was in town as his former Colts team was honored for their 2006 Super Bowl win, had some great things to say about Mariota during the broadcast.
"I really like Marcus. I have known him for a long time. He has been to our football camp down in Louisiana every year and he has gotten better every year. Playing is your best experience, and he has improved…….I am a big fan, a big fan”"
Mariota is having himself a really solid sophomore season.
The former Oregon Duck has thrown for 2,772, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 11 games so far this season. He also has 264 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
There’s no doubt that Mariota is a franchise quarterback. He’s going to be the catalyst that turns the Tennessee Titans franchise around.
But it’s definitely reassuring to hear that kind of praise from Manning, someone who’s played against the best of the best.
The Titans might not end up being a playoff team this season. But the AFC better watch out. This is a team on the rise and with Mariota at the helm, the sky is the limit.
