Luke Bryan Slapped A Fan While Performing
By Zach Ragan
A fan got more than they bargained for while watching country music star Luke Bryan perform on Wednesday night.
Part of being a famous musician (or a famous person in general) is dealing with hecklers.
That obviously escaped country music megastar Luke Bryan on Wednesday night.
Bryan was performing at Charlie Daniels’ all-star Volunteer Jam in Nashville when he apparently slapped a fan in the face/neck.
It’s hard to tell in the video whether Bryan landed a slap or why exactly he was angry with the fan. You can hear Bryan briefly quit singing and say “come on” to the fan, who then steps toward the stage.
Bryan’s publicity team did release a statement, however, on Thursday to address the situation.
Via Rolling Stone:
"A man in [the] front row was making crude hand gestures toward Luke during his performance. It was insulting not only to him, but more importantly to the men, women and families sitting around him who were there to support and celebrate Charlie Daniels and the efforts of raising money for the military veterans, some of who were in the audience. The concert security personnel saw the man’s disruptive actions of the event and he was escorted out."
I can see why Bryan was upset. Especially considering there were families sitting around the man making the gestures.
But Bryan is no stranger to criticism. I’m sure he’s well aware that plenty of hardcore country music fans aren’t Luke Bryan fans. He’s surely heard plenty about his “dance moves” and style of “bro country”.
Typically when something like this happens in the crowd, the artist will call out the person making the disruption and security will remove them.
Deciding to get physical with a fan is never a good idea. That’s when lawsuits and all sorts of legal drama enters the picture.

Either way, the situation was a no-win for either party on Wednesday night.
