The Tennessee Vols basketball program received some disappointing news on Wednesday with the report that Isaiah Stokes spurned UT for Florida.

The Tennessee Vols were hoping to sign three-star 2017 power forward Isaiah Stokes, but it was revealed on Wednesday that Stokes signed with Florida during the early signing period.

Stokes is the younger brother of former Vols basketball star Jarnell Stokes.

A report from 247Sports says Stokes planned to reveal his decision after the Christmas break. But it’s believed that another school may have leaked the news that Stokes decided to sign with the Gators.

It’s obviously a big miss for the Vols. But it’s hardly a surprise.

It was more of a surprise that the older Stokes signed with Tennessee in the first place.

Memphis is a tough place to recruit. And Tennessee’s basketball history isn’t as rich as some others.

Plus there’s the fact that Stokes attends school in Florida.

We’ve seen plenty of situations where siblings decide to head to other schools.

(Peyton Manning anyone?)

Tennessee’s 2017 recruiting class is currently ranked 98th in the nation and 14th in the SEC. Not exactly a stellar ranking.
