The Tennessee Titans placed rookie linebacker Kevin Dodd on I.R. on Monday.

I’m not a fan of calling a player a bust after only one year in the NFL.

But Tennessee Titans linebacker Kevin Dodd might be the rare exception.

Dodd, who was drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, was placed on I.R. on Monday.

The former Clemson Tiger was benched earlier this season after Mike Mularkey said Dodd wasn’t practicing well enough to play.

Dodd played only 179 snaps this season. He had seven tackles and one sack in those 179 snaps. Not exactly a good ratio.

Not being able to stay healthy, combined with the fact that Dodd was drafted in the second round after a single year as a starter at Clemson, leads me to believe he might be a bust.

Dodd could definitely prove me wrong. But linebackers usually pick things up quickly. They’re almost like the running back of the offense, in terms of development. Typically they can contribute immediately, and in a big way, as a rookie.

However, that hasn’t been the case at all for Dodd.

Unfortunately for teams in the NFL, draft picks more often than not turn out to be busts.

And it looks like Kevin Dodd will be on that list.

Hopefully the Titans can make better use of their draft picks next season.
