Last week, a not-so-flattering report was published that painted the Vols’ football program in a negative light.

Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones responded on Tuesday to a report from 247Sports last week.

The report suggested that things aren’t so rosy around the football program. It described Tennessee as in turmoil.

Jones directly addressed the report on Tuesday.

One part of the report that was particularly personal, in regards to Jones, was where he was described as insecure.

Jones’ bickering with the media was used as evidence of him not “being comfortable in his own skin”.

The decision to respond to the media on Tuesday almost verifies that claim in a way.

Jones has to learn to let things roll off his back. Bickering with the media is not a way to make your team better.

Lane Kiffin, ironically enough, addressed this very issue at his introductory press conference at Florida Atlantic on Tuesday.

Jones cares a whole lot about the perception of the program.

But what he doesn’t understand is all he needs to do is win. If Tennessee wins, the perception of the program will take care of itself.

Perhaps Jones should take the advice of Saban and not read a damn thing the media has to say.

It’s hard to argue against Saban’s logic that it’s a waste of time.
