Tennessee Titans: Karl Klug Out For Season
By Zach Ragan
Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Karl Klug was injured in the team’s win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
The Titans will be without defensive lineman Karl Klug for the rest of the season, head coach Mike Mularkey announced on Monday.
Klug tore his achilles in the Titans’ win against the Chiefs on Sunday. He will be placed on IR.
Klug missed practice last week with a strained achilles. So the decision to play Klug, given the subsequent injury, will be understandably scrutinized.
Mularkey said on Monday that he didn’t think Klug would’ve allowed the Titans head coach to sit him.
That seems silly because Mularkey is, you know, the head coach of the team.
Either way, the Titans will be down a defensive tackle in their rotation.
Klug had played in all 14 games this season. He had already set a new career high with 26 total tackles. Klug also had 1.5 sacks this season.
Tennessee will definitely miss the Wisconsin native during the final two games of the regular season.
The Titans have already had to deal with some injuries along their defensive front. So this definitely isn’t the type of news they were hoping to receive.
Fellow defensive lineman Jurrell Casey returned to action against the Chiefs after sitting out the Titans’ win against the Denver Broncos.
The win against the Chiefs could be Klug’s final game as a Titan. He’s a free agent after this season and the team might be hesitant to resign him after suffering multiple achilles injuries.
