6. Florida Georgia Line — H.O.L.Y.

Must hear lyric: You made the brightest days from the darkest nights you’re the river bank where I was baptized, cleanse all the demons that were killing my freedom”

Florida Georgia Line’s reputation for putting out light hearted country anthems wouldn’t lead you to believe that they’d have one of the best country songs of 2016.

“H.O.L.Y.”, however, was one of the biggest songs of this past summer. It seemed like it was on the radio every 15 minutes.

But for good reason — it’s a great song.

The tune was as catchy as previous FGL songs, but it went a little deeper. The song’s protagonist sings about being saved by a woman in his darkest days.

It’s certainly nothing new lyrically. But “H.O.L.Y.” hit home for a lot of folks, which made it a huge hit for the guys from down south.
