Delegate

Listen, I get that Butch Jones is the head coach at Tennessee.

This is his team. His football program. His vision.

But Jones has some great coaches on his staff. He needs to delegate and let them do what they’re being paid to do.

If Bob Shoop needs new defensive assistants, then Jones needs to allow that to happen.

Maybe the Vols do end up hiring Mark Helfrich as the team’s new offensive coordinator. If that happens, then Jones has to allow Helfrich to put his spin on the offense.

At the end of the day, this is Butch Jones’ team. But you can’t be successful if you don’t trust those around you.

Jones needs to let of the reigns a bit in 2017.
