Speaking of letting go, Jones should probably relax in 2017.

The Tennessee head coach was notably “testy” with the media in 2016.

That works for some coaches (Nick Saban seems to enjoy being hateful with the media), but it doesn’t feel natural with Jones. It comes across as being insecure.

In 2017, it would be nice to see Jones drop the coach speak.

Every time Jones says “champions of life”, or “we talk about”, fans and media members cringe.

It would be refreshing to see Jones be a little more candid with the media.

There’s no doubt it would go a long way in helping his image with fans.

It may seem petty to even mention this. And I imagine there’s a large group of fans that couldn’t care less about what Jones says to the media.

But a lot of fans are tired of the cliches. They’re tired of the “Butchisms”.

Perception means a lot. Jones needs to do everything he can to help his image in 2017.
