TJ Weist

Recently the interim head coach at South Florida

Any list involving potential offensive coordinators that could be hired by Butch Jones has to include TJ Weist.

A lot of folks would roll their eyes at Jones hiring Weist, assuming it’s just another case of him hiring one of his “buddies”.

Weist was Jones’ wide receivers coach from 2010-2012 at Cincinnati.

The former Alabama wide receiver did not make the transition with Jones to Tennessee.

My assumption is that Weist was ready to be an offensive coordinator again (he was previously the OC at Western Kentucky). He was hired by UConn as their offensive coordinator after leaving Cincinnati. Weist ended up finishing the 2013 season as the Huskies’ interim head coach.

He was most recently the interim head coach at South Florida.

Weist has plenty of coaching experience. He’s been an offensive coordinator at Western Kentucky, UConn, and South Florida.
