Former Vols OC Gives His Take On Peyton Manning As A Coach
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe weighs in on the idea of Peyton Manning as a potential coach.
The idea that former Vols quarterback, and future NFL hall of famer, Peyton Manning could one day be a coach is a polarizing thought among the members of Vol nation.
A lot of folks, based mostly on an interview with Dan Patrick in 2015, believe that Manning could be a position coach one day.
I’m of the opinion that Manning will never be a coach. It’s too much of a grind, and I can’t see Manning living that kind of life in his post-NFL career.
I’m not the only one with those same thoughts.
David Cutcliffe, Manning’s offensive coordinator and position coach at Tennessee, knows the two-time Super Bowl champion as anyone.
And he doesn’t see Manning coaching either.
Here’s what Cutcliffe told the Midday 180 in Nashville on Tuesday when he asked if he could see Manning as a coach.
"“No, I don’t. I just don’t think that’s his passion. Do I think his involvement with football is over? Maybe not."
Like I said before, Cutcliffe knows Manning as well as anyone. If anyone in the coaching world has insight into what his next move might be, it’s David Cutcliffe.

Manning will almost certainly be involved with football in some way in his post-NFL career. But working for a meager salary (by Peyton Manning standards) as a position coach (a job with insane hours) just isn’t likely.
Look for Manning to perhaps go the John Elway route and land a front office gig, or maybe do some television work.
