Jim Bob Cooter

Current Detroit Lions offensive coordinator

You can’t have this list without including Jim Bob Cooter.

This is the only person on this list that is a “Tennessee guy”.

Cooter played at Tennessee and served as a graduate assistant under Phillip Fulmer for two years, before making the jump to the NFL as an assistant.

The former Vol has made a quick rise through the coaching ranks. Cooter spent time as an offensive assistant with the Colts, Chiefs and Broncos, before landing a gig as the Lions quarterbacks coach in 2014.

Detroit promoted Cooter to offensive coordinator in 2015.

Cooter hasn’t really showed an interest in returning to college, but I’m sure he’d be open to returning to Tennessee.

If Cooter did end up as the head coach at Tennessee, it would mark a return to a pro-style offense for the Volunteers.
