Brian Kelly

Current head coach at Notre Dame

This probably isn’t a name that Vols fans want to see on this list. And they’ll probably shake their heads at it.

But again, it’s all about winning.

And Brian Kelly, despite his record this past season, knows how to win.

Kelly took Cincinnati to the Sugar bowl (and an undefeated season) in 2009. He took Notre Dame to the BCS championship game in 2012. He’s only had two losing seasons as a head coach since 2004.

Oh, the elephant in the room?

Yeah, there is the Butch Jones connection.

Most folks, however, probably agree that Kelly is the superior coach.

And he probably wouldn’t mind getting away from Notre Dame to a school where it’s a bit easier to win.

Kelly wouldn’t be a popular hire in Knoxville. He wouldn’t make fans feel all warm fuzzy.

But he would deliver wins, and he’d likely be able to lead the Vols to the SEC Championship game.
