The Carolina Panthers announced on Tuesday that Mose Frazier was signed to a future contract.

Former Memphis Tigers wide receiver Mose Frazier was signed to a future contract by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.

Frazier spent three seasons at Memphis. As a senior, Frazier caught 70 passes for 797 yards and four touchdowns.

The Memphis native went undrafted in 2016, but he spent time on the practice squads of Denver, Buffalo, and San Francisco.

He wasn’t active for any games last season.

Frazier clearly showed in college that he has talent. He’s a reliable receiver that runs good routes.

Obviously it will be an uphill battle for Frazier to land on the Panthers’ active roster, but it’s actually a pretty good situation for him.

Carolina doesn’t have a lot of depth at wide receiver. Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess are the team’s top two wide receivers. After those two, it’s a bit of a toss up.

Ted Ginn is a niche player that stretches the field, but that’s about it.

Philly Brown is similar to Frazier, but he’s never been able to truly establish himself as a go-to wide receiver.

If Frazier can prove to be a reliable possession wide receiver, he could find a role with the Carolina Panthers.
