Mike Williams — Wide Receiver — Clemson
If the Titans are looking for a playmaker in the 2017 NFL Draft, then they should look no further than Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams.
The numbers pretty much tell you all you need to know about Williams. He caught 98 passes for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016.
Williams, much like former Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin against Auburn, showed up big in the bright lights of the national championship game. He caught eight passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in Clemson’s win against Alabama.
The Titans’ top wide receivers heading into next season are Rishard Matthews and Tajae Sharpe.
Matthews has shown the ability to be a playmaker, and Sharpe performed well in 2016, but there’s no doubt that Tennessee needs an additional playmaker. I’m not sure either of those two guys mentioned are true number one wide receivers.
If the Titans decide to draft Williams with the fifth overall selection, it means they’ll likely be passing up some safeties/cornerbacks that could help their secondary.
