Bill Kirelawich

Current position: None

If things don’t work out with the Vols’ top targets, then you can expect Butch Jones (as is the custom) to check in with some old friends.

Jones was on staff at West Virginia with Bill Kirelawich, so there’s definitely a connection here.

Kirelawich was most recently the defensive line coach at Arizona, but he was fired by Rich Rodriguez at the conclusion of the 2015 season.

But that doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach. Kirelawich has been coaching football for over 30 years. Amazingly, he’s only been at two schools — West Virginia and Arizona.

Kirelawich didn’t coach anywhere in 2016, and he could decide that retirement is the right path for him.

However, that hasn’t stopped Jones from hiring a coach before (Mike DeBord anyone?).

This hire wouldn’t be very inspiring at all.

And it would make fans wonder why Stripling even stepped down in the first place.

If this happens, Vol fans would have every right to be upset.
