Will McBride

League City, TX (Clear Springs)

Position: Quarterback

247Sports Rating: Three-star

247Sports Position Rating: 28 (Dual)

For the first time since 2014, the Vols will have a quarterback battle on their hands.

The three names that everyone will be watching will be Quinten Dormady, Jarrett Guarantano, and Sheriron Jones.

And for good reason. One of those three will absolutely be Tennessee’s starting quarterback in 2017.

But that doesn’t mean you should sleep on Will McBride.

At this point, we know that Butch Jones’ offense, despite what he said when he was hired in 2012, needs a dual-threat quarterback to be successful.

The Vols have some great options already, but McBride, even though he’s “only” a three-star recruit, still has enough talent to be productive in the SEC.

I don’t know when McBride will get his chance. Or if he ever will. But one thing is certain — having too much talent at quarterback is a good problem to have.
