Trey Smith

Jackson, TN (University School of Jackson)

Position: Offensive Tackle

247Sports Rating: Five-star

247Sports Position Rating: 3

247Sports Overall Rating: 5

So this one isn’t much of a surprise.

If you’re a five-star recruit like Trey Smith, you’re going to be expected to contribute immediately.

Smith, an early enrollee at Tennessee, will definitely have that opportunity next season.

The right tackle position is pretty much set right now with Chance Hall, but Smith could absolutely compete with Brett Kendrick and Drew Richmond for the starting left tackle position.

I doubt that Smith wins the job out of spring practice, but I’m sure he’ll see some early action.

And you know how the offensive line works at UT — a copious amount of combinations are typically used by Butch Jones.

Smith could very well end the season as Tennessee’s starting left tackle, assuming Jones isn’t too afraid to give that much responsibility to a true freshman.
