On paper, the Vols should be set at defensive tackle.

Shy Tuttle and Kendal Vickers will likely be the starters. Kahlil McKenzie, Quay Picou, and Alexis Johnson should also see plenty of action.

But over the last couple of years it seems like the Vols always have to reach into their reserves for defensive tackles.

You can’t predict injuries, and we’re all certainly hoping Shy Tuttle can stay healthy in 2017, but you almost expect to have to play some defensive tackles beyond those five that were mentioned above.

If that does end up being the case, then you can pretty much guarantee that Eric Crosby will see action in 2017.

Crosby has the talent to contribute as a true freshman.

Vol fans, however, are likely hoping they don’t have to see him in action until 2018.

But I seriously doubt that ends up being the case.
