Defensive Line

Players signed:

  • Deandre Johnson — Three-star
  • Eric Crosby — Four-star
  • Matthew Butler — Three-star
  • LaTrell Bumphus — Three-star
  • Kivon Bennett — Three-star
  • Ryan Thaxton — Three-star

Grade: B

The Vols get a B here simply because of quantity.

Eric Crosby is clearly the star of the show with this group — he’s the only four-star.

The rest of the class is filled with guys that are tough to predict how successful they will be.

There’s talent, I’m not saying there isn’t, but there isn’t anyone that jumps out and screams “I’m a star”.

I have high hopes for Deandre Johnson. As an early enrollee, I think he will get a chance to make an impact this season. As for the others, I expect plenty of redshirt seasons.
