Former Tennessee Vols defensive end Corey Miller landed a new gig this week.

Corey Miller played college football for four seasons as a member of the Tennessee Vols, but he’s heading to a rival school in his post collegiate career.

Miller was hired by South Carolina to the team’s strength and conditioning staff, according to several reports.

The former Vol is from Welford, SC, about 90 minutes northwest of Columbia, just outside of Spartanburg.

According to 247Sports, Miller was the head of strength and conditioning at D1 Sports in Knoxville, TN.

Miller is one of several players who was recruited to Tennessee by Lane Kiffin (he was one of the early enrollees when Kiffin left UT), but played for Derek Dooley and Butch Jones.

In four seasons as a Vol, Miller compiled 9.5 sacks and 82 total tackles (including 16 for a loss).

Miller’s most memorable moment came in his last game as a Vol. He wreaked havoc on Kentucky with 4.5 sacks, breaking Reggie White’s single game record of 4.0 sacks.

It’s definitely weird to see Miller as a Gamecock — he’s been a prominent Vol since he left Tennessee.

But it’s also great to see a VFL landing a gig and getting back into college football.

And who knows, maybe Miller will end up on the sidelines at Tennessee again one day.
