As a general rule, college programs should never offer a player based on their name. But I think there’s an exception to this rule.

National Signing Day earlier this month gave us the greatest name in the history of sports — Kobe Buffalomeat.

Nothing will ever top that. There’s no point in even trying.

In fact, I tried to come up with something fictitious just now and nothing I contrived could even compare.

But I digress.

The Vols might not be able to land a player with a quality last name like Buffalomeat, but there is a guy that has the perfect first name for Rocky Top — four-star outside linebacker Tennessee Pututau.

More from Tenn Truth

Pututau is a 2018 recruit that is rated by 247Sports as the second best player in the state of Utah and the 9th best outside linebacker in the nation.

Utah and BYU, unsurprisingly, are the favorites to land Pututau.

Even though the Vols would probably be a longshot to land this kid, they should still extend him an offer.

I mean, they have to, right?

Is it any coincidence that Tennessee Pututau, a Utah native, came to my attention the exact day the Vols announced a home and home series with BYU?

I think not.

Give this kid an offer, Butch Jones. Even if it’s just for fun, you still have to make it happen.
