Terence Newman

Terence Newman will be 39 years old when the 2017 season gets underway, but he’s coming off a season where he played remarkably well.

It might seem like a good idea for the Titans to sign Newman to a one year deal, and draft a cornerback. It would allow the young cornerback to develop behind a solid vet like Newman.

The only problem is that I doubt the Titans are the only team that will want to sign Newman to a

one year deal. He won’t exactly be cheap.

And again, this brings us back to the fact that Tennessee needs to invest long term in a cornerback in the prime of their career.

More from Tenn Truth

The Titans need to be targeting some of the top young corners on the market (AJ Bouye for one).

This is a team that is built for the future. The Titans, if they properly address their secondary, should be contenders for the next several seasons.

Signing a player like Newman is setting your sights a bit low.

The Titans could go deep in the playoffs next season. If they want to do that, they need to spend like a team that goes deep in the playoffs.
