Brian Kelly

Brian Kelly is Butch Jones’ mentor, so his name might be very popular among a lot of Vol fans.

But it’s hard to argue that he’s one of the better coaches in the nation.

Winning at Notre Dame isn’t easy. Recruiting is tougher, and the expectations are high.

Kelly, however, led the Irish to the national championship game in 2012. Aside from this past season, he’s had solid teams every year he’s been at Notre Dame.

I’m not as sold on Kelly as some others on this list, but he’s still proved he’s one of the better coaches in the nation.

Would Brian Kelly do better at Tennessee than Jones? It’s impossible to know for sure, but we do know that Kelly had more success at Cincinnati than Jones.
