The latest mock draft from CBS Sports has some interesting choices for the Tennessee Titans.

CBS Sports released their latest mock draft on Monday, and it bucks recent draft projections for the Tennessee Titans.

The general consensus among most fans/analysts, even after recent free agent signings, is that Tennessee will still look to bolster their defense with at least one of their two first round draft picks.

But CBS Sports’ recent mock draft has the Titans going all offense in the first round. And that’s not even the most surprising part.

CBS predicts the Titans will select Alabama tight end OJ Howard with their fifth selection, and Washington’s John Ross with their 18th selection.

Here’s what they say about each selection:

"Featuring the three-headed running threat of DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry and quarterback Marcus Mariota, the Titans’ strategy on offense is different than most teams in this pass-happy era. Adding a seam-busting threat like Howard would be a perfect complement. After spectacular performances at the Senior Bowl and combine, Howard is gaining traction as the top pass-catcher in this draft and a top-10 pick.Titans GM Jon Robinson doubled down on running backs a year ago with the additions of Murray and Henry and he could do the same in 2017 with Howard at No. 5 overall and a speedster like Ross here, who would force defenses to think twice about crowding the box to slow down Howard and Tennessee’s running game."

Ross at 18 isn’t surprising at all. In fact, it would be a great pick for the Titans — if he’s still available.

Howard, however, at five is a bit more surprising.

Most projections have the Titans selecting Jamal Adams with the fifth pick. But in this mock draft, CBS has Adams going to Chicago at third overall.

More from Tenn Truth

Adams could easily be the best player in this draft, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him end up going third, meaning the Titans would have to go to their backup plan.

Howard is a very intriguing prospect, but I think taking him with the fifth overall pick would be a big mistake. He has the potential to be a great player in the NFL, but he’s still quite raw as a prospect. Taking him at fifth is too big of a gamble. He has a high ceiling, but a low floor. Tennessee can’t afford to possibly “waste” a pick that high.

The Titans would be better served to take Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore or Malik Hooker, or Howard’s Alabama teammate Jonathan Allen.

I just can’t see the Titans taking Howard that early in the first round.

And as far as the Ross pick goes? Well like I said earlier, it would be a great pick for the Titans.

But would Tennessee really pass up Clemson’s Mike Williams for Ross?

I’m not sure they would.

CBS is predicting that Williams will fall to the Dallas Cowboys at 28. I don’t see that happening.

And if it does, then there are a lot of dumb teams.

Do I think the Titans should take Williams at five? No, I definitely don’t.

However, if he is still there at 18, you absolutely have to take him.

CBS totally missed the mark when it came to the Titans in this mock draft.
