Sports Illustrated released their latest mock draft this week, and it gives us another view at who the Tennessee Titans might select in the 2017 NFL Draft.

With the the NFL draft now less than a month away, you’d think we’d have a decent idea at guessing what the Tennessee Titans might decide to do with their two first-round picks.

But that’s nowhere close to being the case.

Mock drafts and projections have been all over the place for the Titans lately.

A lot of projections have Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore going to the Titans, others have Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, while some have Clemson wide receiver Mike Williams.

As you can see, it’s anyone’s guess.

Sports Illustrated’s recent three-round mock draft has a couple of interesting choices for the Titans.

With the fifth overall pick, SI has the Titans taking Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen.

From SI:

"The Titans have to be loving where they are at, assuming Marcus Mariota heals on time from his late-season leg injury. Already a playoff contender, they have two top-18 picks and minimal glaring needs coming out of free agency. Hence the ability to nab Allen at No. 5, even if they have a steady D-line. Worries about his shoulders aside, Allen stands out as a potential perennial Pro Bowler."

It’s worth noting that SI has the Titans passing up Lattimore to take Allen.

I think that’s a smart move, given the concerns about Lattimore’s hamstrings. Plus the fact that Tennessee inked cornerback Logan Ryan to a free agent deal this off-season (also there are some quality cornerbacks later in the draft).

With the 18th overall selection, SI has the Titans addressing their wide receiver needs by selecting Washington wide receiver John Ross.

From SI:

"Ross has an injury history on each of his knees and he needed shoulder surgery after the combine. That we’re even discussing him as a Round 1 prospect anyway, let alone a top-20 guy, should tell you all you need to know about his skill level. He doesn’t fit the No. 1 receiver profile the same way Davis or Williams does, but he could thrive with Mariota firing him passes."

I’m not a huge fan of Ross, so I’m not exactly sold on the Titans taking him with the 18th overall pick.

He has plenty of upside, but that’s true of almost every wide receiver drafted in the last ten years (they all have “tremendous upside” according to scouting reports).

The Titans might be better off taking Florida cornerback Quincy Wilson with their second first round pick.

Tennessee doesn’t have a second round pick, but they do have two third round picks, and SI made projections for both of those selections.

More from Tenn Truth

With the 83rd overall pick, SI predicts the Titans will select Clemson defensive tackle Carlos Watkins.

SI predicts Tennessee will take Alabama safety Eddie Jackson with the 100th overall pick.

But of those picks would be very solid third round selections.

Watkins would be a solid player for depth, but I’m not sure he can handle being the Titans’ starting nose tackle. Conditioning has been an issue for him.

Jackson, on the other hand, can definitely turn into a stater in the NFL. The Titans still need secondary depth and Jackson would be a great asset to have.

Overall, I think Titans fans should be pleased with the way SI predicts the first three rounds will go down.

But then again, we all know it will be a totally different story on draft day. Trades and surprise picks will shake up draft boards and make for an exciting 2017 draft.
