Tedric Thompson — Safety — Colorado

The Titans addressed some of their secondary concerns via free agency, and they’ll likely continue to address those needs in the first round of the draft.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t add some depth later in the draft.

Tedric Thompson is a player the Titans could select in the middle rounds who offers a lot of upside.

Thompson isn’t the most physical player in the draft, but as a former high school wide receiver he offers desirable playmaking skills in the secondary.

As with any player selected in the later rounds, there are some glaring weaknesses in Thompson’s game. He doesn’t tackle well (he’s been described as an arm tackler), and sometimes his desire to make a play on the ball might result in giving up a big play.

But those aspects of his game are all correctable with the right coaching.

Here’s what NFL.com has to say about Thompson:

"Thompson in an instinctive cover safety with strong ball skills and a history of production during his time at Colorado. Lacks physicality to operate around the box, but his football intelligence and playmaking skills will get him drafted and could give him a shot at eventually starting."

Thompson has the potential to develop into a solid cover safety for whichever team decides to draft him.

Given the Titans’ woes at the position in 2016, they might as well take a chance on the former Colorado defensive back.
