3. Adam Jones — Cornerback
Round 1 Pick 6 (2005)
Adam Jones is now a Pro-Bowl cornerback, but he wasn’t even close to that with the Titans.
Jones played only two seasons in Nashville, before he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys (following a one year suspension from the league).
There’s no doubt that Jones is a solid player, but if take a guy with the sixth overall pick, you don’t expect season long suspensions. You also don’t expect to have to deal him after two years because of all the off-the-field issues.
There are a lot of players the Titans ultimately could’ve selected instead of Jones that would’ve helped the franchise in the long run.
Players the Titans could’ve selected instead of Jones:
- DeMarcus Ware
- Thomas Davis
- Derrick Johnson
- Aaron Rodgers
- Roddy White
- Heath Miller
- Logan Mankins
- Nick Collins
