Tennessee Titans: Final Full Seven Round Mock Draft
By Zach Ragan
3.100 — Marcus Williams — Safety — Utah
The Titans’ secondary was the team’s biggest weakness in 2016, so they might as well load up on defensive backs in the draft, right?
Right.
Williams is a disruptive playmaker that always seems to find the ball. He creates turnovers, which is a trait that NFL teams will love.
Here’s what NFL.com says about Williams:
"Athletic and instinctive from high safety. Easy hips with smooth feet in his backpedal. Able to play from deep positioning and still make plays on the ball. Good recognition of quarterback’s intentions gives him a head-start on the throw. Has desired open-field speed to close from hash to sideline. Former basketball player and high-jumper with the leaping ability and timing to win the 50-50 throws."
The biggest problem with Williams is that he’s not very physical or good against the run.
Fortunately for the Titans, they signed a safety (Johnathan Cyprien) during the off-season that’s great against the run.
Williams would provide the Titans with a solid cover safety, which is why he’d be a smart selection for Tennessee with their second pick in the third round.
