Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is recovering this offseason from surgery.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota had surgery on his broken right fibula on December 28, after suffering the injury on Christmas Even in a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mariota had a plate implanted on his fibula, to help stabilize the bone.

And because of that plate, Mariota can no longer breeze through airport security.

The Titans’ signal caller spoke to the media on Monday, after reporting for offseason team activities, and shared how he set off the metal detector at the airport.

Mariota’s story provides a good laugh, but Titans fans are likely more concerned with his recovery and whether or not he’ll be ready for regular season action.

The former Oregon Duck told the gathered media on Monday that he isn’t sure if he will be on the field before the start of training camp. But he did say that he expects to be running in the next two to three weeks.

Don’t let Mariota’s concern over being on the field before the start of training camp concern you, because he also pointed out on Monday that he doesn’t expect his injury to affect him next season.

That’s great news for Titans fans.

Mariota is what makes the offense tick, and as long as he’s a full go when the season gets underway, the Titans should be good to go in their quest to win the AFC South.
