1.5 Reuben Foster — Alabama — Linebacker

This is a little surprising to me.

Don’t get me wrong, Foster is a good pick for the Titans, but I think there are probably better options at the fifth pick.

Tennessee needs secondary help more than anything, and there are several players that could be selected with the fifth pick that are potential franchise players.

Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore are all players that would be a better fit for the Titans — as far as team needs go.

However, it’s hard to be too upset about the Titans taking a player as talented as Reuben Foster.

Here is Kiper’s reasoning for selecting Foster:

"I think the Titans have three clear needs: cornerback, wide receiver and inside linebacker. I don’t have a corner or receiver in my top five, but I do have Foster ranked that high. He’s that good, an every-down linebacker with elite range."

It looks like Kiper is going with a best player available approach for the Titans.

I still think Adams or Hooker would be a better selection, but Foster is a potential Pro-Bowl player that will make an impact for whichever NFL team selects him.
