Tennessee Titans: Last Minute 7-Round 2017 NFL Mock Draft
By James Dugger
Here is my last-minute, 2017 NFL Mock Draft: Who will the Tennessee Titans Take? One thing is for sure, be sure to hedge your bets!
The Tennessee Titans have a big night ahead of them on Thursday. They have two picks in the first round, and they are both in the top 18 (5 and 18). They also have two third-round picks, and one-fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh.
There is a lot of depth in this draft class, and the Titans need some help in some areas. The major consensus for needs of the Tennessee Titans is cornerback and linebacker. Luckily, there are many of both of those player groups in the draft this year.
This mock draft does not contain any trades as that would be nearly impossible to predict. Without further ado, here is my final mock draft
The Titans select…
Jonathan Allen, Defensive Lineman, Alabama
The team needs a powerful and disruptive interior lineman that, along with Jurrell Casey, can get to the quarterback and stop the running game of the other team.
Allen is a big 6′ 3″ and weighs in at a whopping 286 pounds. With his winning experience from the University of Alabama and his size/strength, Jonathan Allen would make a great addition to the interior line.
The pick is…
Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Davis would be a great addition to the receiving because he would add the “big target” aspect to the core because it has been missing that since parting ways with Dorial Green-Beckham last pre-season.
Davis stacks up well as he is 6’3″ and weighs at 209LBS. He also owns the all-time major college football receiving yard record with 5,285 receiving yards throughout his career.
The Tennessee Titans would benefit from adding this wide receiver to the team.
The Titans do not have any second round pick as of now, but that could change due to trades. For now, this is the next pick in the draft.
Round 3, Pick 83
Selection, Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
Jones would be a good pick here in the third round. He is a good size at 6′ 186LBS, and he has some blazing speed with a 4.47 40-YD time.
Many experts like his hip movement and that is what makes him so good. If the Tennessee Titans can add him, this would help their secondary grow after cutting Jason McCourty.
Round 3, Pick 100
With the 100th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select…
Jeremy Sprinkle, TE, Arkansas
Sprinkle is an average tight end from Arkansas. He plays alongside one of the biggest offensive lines in history.
With his 6’5″, 252LBS frame, he would make a great backup for aging tight end, Delanie Walker. He is not as quick as some would want him to be, but he can block when needed to.
The Tennessee Titans need to add to their depth at tight end since Anthony Fasano signed with the Dolphins in the offseason.
Round 4, Pick 124
The pick is…
Hardy Nickerson, ILB, Illinois
With a fourth round pick, you aren’t looking for an instant starter. Nickerson might not be that, but he can add depth to our interior linebacking core, which is home to an aging Wesley Woodyard.
At 6’3″, 230LBS, he is smaller than desired, but he has some good speed that could prove helpful for the defense.
Round 5, Pick 164
We have made the pick, it is…
Demetrious Cox, FS, Michigan State
Cox is a quick player posting a 4.55 40-YD time, and he can play pretty well. This pick will add some support going through training camp and could even make his way onto the team.
Last year’s late round picks found a way to make the team though showing up during the pre-season, he could do just that and make the team.
Round 6, Pick 214
With the 214 pick in the draft, the Titans go with…
Kyle Fuller, C, Baylor
This pick would be strictly for depth purposes. The Tennessee Titans currently only have one center, Ben Jones. They need more depth.
He is a big player that can clog up the line to give more time for Marcus Mariota can get the pass off. He is also strong enough to unclog the line for the running game to still be strong.
Round 7, Pick 236
With their last pick, the Titans take…
Robert Davis, WR, Georgia State
Robert Davis would be a pick to come into the locker room and cause a battle. The Tennessee Titans need a player to be able to cause a position battle to make players realize that they need to earn their stay.
Davis ran a 4.44 40-YD time, and he is 6’3″, 220LBS. He is a big receiver that can go up and fight for the ball. That is what Mariota needs.
