Former Vols: Indianapolis Colts To Unveil Peyton Manning Statue
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Peyton Manning will be honored by the NFL team where he spent most of his career.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday the Indianapolis Colts will unveil a statue of former Tennessee Vols quarterback Peyton Manning on October 7.
Manning was the first overall pick by the Colts in the 1998 draft. He spent 18 years in the NFL (he sat out the 2011 season due to his neck injury). 14 of those years were spent as a member of the Colts’ franchise (1998-2011).
In those 14 years, Manning made the Pro-Bowl 11 times, won the 2006 Super Bowl and was the NFL MVP on four different occasions, among many other honors and accolades.
Putting up a statue of Manning is a no-brainer for the Colts.

Of course now the big question is “When will the Vols put up a statue of Manning?”.
Manning never won a national championship at Tennessee, but he’s clearly the most successful football player to ever come through Knoxville.
Tennessee already has a street named for Manning near Neyland (Peyton Manning Pass), but I think a statue somewhere around the stadium should be erected asap.
If Tim Tebow has a statue at Florida, then Manning should absolutely have a statue at Tennessee.
Let’s just hope the Manning statue turns out better than the infamous Ronaldo statue.
