October 14 — South Carolina @ Tennessee

There’s just no way the Vols lose to South Carolina two years in a row.

Last year’s loss to the Gamecocks was the result of some injuries, poor quarterback play, poor coaching and a running back that had no clue what he wanted.

There’s no doubt that Tennessee’s 2016 loss to South Carolina was one of the biggest missteps of Butch Jones’ career, but every coach has a few of those.

The Vols should be able to consistently get into South Carolina’s backfield, even without Derek Barnett (The Gamecocks gave up the most sacks in the SEC last season).

Prediction: Tennessee wins (4-2)
