Tennessee’s Defense Will Be Top 3 In The SEC

This is a weird thing to say about a team that lost it’s best defenders in Derek Barnett, Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Cam Sutton.

But defensive coordinator Bob Shoop knows what he’s doing. And he knows his first year as the defensive coordinator in Knoxville was an anomaly.

Shoop typically leads one of the top defenses in the country. I have no doubt he will get back to the basics and have the Vols’ defense among the best in the SEC.

And let’s not pretend like Tennessee doesn’t have talent on defense.

The Vols still have great playmakers in guys like Darrin Kirkland Jr and Jonathan Kongbo.

Tennessee’s defense is going to play like they have a lot to prove in 2017. I think fans will be pleasant surprised.
