2000 Season: Tennessee 17 South Carolina 14

Date: October 28

Location: Williams Brice Stadium (Columbia, SC)

Rankings: Tennessee — Unranked, South Carolina — 17

Attendance: 84,200

Why was it the biggest win of the year?

Tennessee was ranked 13th to start the 2000 season, but three losses in their first five games dropped them out of the top 25.

The Vols did beat Alabama in 2000, but they were also unranked at the time of the meeting.

Tennessee’s win against Bama, however, did propel the Volunteers to a six game winning streak. The second win in that six game winning streak came against 17th ranked South Carolina.

Quarterback Casey Clausen only threw for 152 yards in this win against the Gamecocks. But running back Travis Henry managed to carry the offensive load, rushing for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
