Who Will Be The Vols’ Offensive MVP?

Jones and his staff are probably hoping a quarterback is Tennessee’s offensive MVP in 2017.

But considering we don’t even know who the starting quarterback is going to be in 2017, it would be a bit irresponsible to say either Dormady or Guarantano is going to be the offensive MVP this season.

With those two ruled out, it really only leaves two options — junior wide receiver Jauan Jennings and junior running back John Kelly.

There will likely be some ups and downs at the quarterback position for the Vols in 2017. Jennings will be a big help to whoever ends up winning the job, but his numbers might be stifled a bit because of the inexperience at the position.

John Kelly, on the other hand, could see a more extensive workload with a new quarterback under center. Kelly will be a “bellcow” running back for Tennessee in 2017. He isn’t splitting time with anyone — he’s the guy.

A good running back can be a new quarterback’s best friend. If the Vols are able to field a strong running game, it will take a tremendous amount of pressure off the passing game. It will also open up the passing game.

I expect the Volunteers to lean heavily on Kelly in 2017, and as a result I think he will be the team’s offensive MVP this season.
