Tennessee Hires Donnie Tyndall

When Cuonzo Martin left Tennessee to take the job at California, it left Tennessee in a familiar position — searching for a coach when they didn’t think they’d need to look for a coach.

In the Vols’ haste to find a coach, they forgot to do their part in fulling vetting Donnie Tyndall.

At first, it seemed like Tennessee had made a good hire in Tyndall. He had a decent enough resume, and fans were optimistic he’d do well.

But Tyndall only lasted one season at Tennessee.

Apparently, Tyndall had lied to UT officials about things that had went on during his time at Morehead State and Southern Mississippi. Tyndall was fired after the NCAA notified Tennessee of the major violations.

Tyndall was eventually given a 10 year show cause penalty.

At this point, Tennessee was the butt of all jokes after yet another failed coaching venture.
