Lane Kiffin’s Introductory Press Conference

If there was one way to dull the pain of forcing out a hall of fame coach, it was to hire a young, energetic coach full of fresh ideas.

Enter Lane Kiffin, who had recently been fired as the Oakland Raiders head coach.

Kiffin started his brief tenure at Tennessee by absolutely killing his introductory press conference.

Kiffin’s most famous comment from his introductory presser was when he mentioned “singing Rocky Top all night long after we beat Florida next year, it’s going to be a blast”.

At the moment, if you were a Vol fan, you were fired up.

But Kiffin’s promise to beat Florida didn’t come to pass. The Gators beat Tennessee 23-13 in the Swamp.

In retrospect, this is probably the least concerning thing about Kiffin’s time at Tennessee. He left the program in a flash after the 2009 season. But I suspect before that happened, this was definitely one of his most regrettable moments.
